Hudson County Executive Thomas DeGise took office after winning a special election in November 2002. Under the state charter, the County Executive is the chief executive officer of the county government, appointing the department heads and overseeing the activities of all departments and divisions.
In November 2011, DeGise was re-elected to a full, four-year term, which will expire on December 31, 2015.
Prior to serving as County Executive, DeGise was Jersey City’s longest serving Municipal Council President, holding that office from 1993 to 2001.
